Fairy Tale Re-telling's

It's been a while since I last posted a book review. I've read many of good books since my last post, but recently I have been intrigued by fairy tale re-telling's. Last September I got the opportunity to go to Penned Con in St. Louis and meet a bunch of very talented authors. Three of my favorite authors included Chanda Hahn, Kendra Moreno, and A. K. Koonce. All three of these authors have published some fairy tale re-tellings that are absolutely binge worthy! I have started reading Chanda Hahn's "Daughters of Eville" series. In this series Lady Eville has adopted daughters from across the land and taught them magic. She plans to use their magic to get revenge on the kingdoms that have wronged her. Each daughter represents a different one of the Disney princesses. Each story has similarities to the original princesses stories, but overall each story is extremely different. I just finished the first book "Of Beast and Beauty," which is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. In this version, Rosalie, the eldest of the daughter's, gets married off to the Prince. She is kept hidden away from the world, married to a guy who wants nothing to do with her, meanwhile a beast is killing people in the woods and terrorizing the village. Rosalie's special power is death. She can see how a person died by touching them, and she dreams about their deaths when she sleeps. She much use her power to track down the beast, and hopefully win the heart of the prince. It's very different from the original story of Beauty and the Beast, but I absolutely loved it. I couldn't put the book down. There is a lot of mystery and action within the book, and I loved how Rosalie was a badass and was capable of taking care of herself. She definitely wasn't a damsel in distress. I absolutely recommend this book. I've started the second book which is about the daughter Eden, who is great with glamouring things. This is a retelling of Cinderella. I look forward to reading it and I will let y'all know how it goes! Happy Reading!
